From Illusion to Empathy: When Magic Forges Unexpected Bonds

From Illusion to Empathy: When Magic Forges Unexpected Bonds

For over two decades, I've been a magician, the guy reaching into thin air, making playing cards appear and leaving audiences slack-jawed.   But lately, I've realized the real magic happens beyond the stage. It's in the silent conversations that flicker between me and the crowd, the moments where hearts connect over something far more powerful than sawing someone in half.

One night, during a light-hearted routine about my parents' divorce, a young man in the audience snagged my attention. Maybe 13 or 14, he suddenly leaned in closer, his eyes wide as I shared how that experience, while tough, ultimately led to a deeper understanding of love and family. As I spoke, a hand landed on his shoulder – maybe an aunt, a confidant – but his gaze remained on me. At that moment, I realized…. he had to be experiencing the same thing.

Los Angeles Magician, Christopher Moro Entertains for Elevate Burbank's Multicultural Arts Festival

I had the pleasure of entertaining at the Elevate Burbank Multicultural Arts Festival this past Saturday. Since most of my shows are for private and corporate clients, public shows like this are rare and one of the joys of being a Magician in Los Angeles, as I get more opportunities to engage with our community.

The organization hopes “to create a modern Burbank that is unified, joyful, vibrant and prosperous.” And as the title says, it celebrates diversity. I whole-heartedly support that mission. I want to thank Linda Bessin, founder and president of Elevate Burbank for creating this great event and having me as the opening act.

I recommend checking out next year’s festival and learning more about them.

If you’re having an event or party and are looking for award-winning entertainment that will amaze and delight your guests, feel free to reach out to me at Christopher Moro Entertainment.
