Christopher Moro, a Magician Member of the Academy of Magical Arts at the Magic Castle in Hollywood, will perform on the main stage at the 7th annual Conjuring for a Cure on Sunday, October 11, 2026. The Santa Clarita magic show takes place at The Centre and benefits the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research and Slow-Motion Magic. The pre-show expo opens at 2:00 PM, the stage show begins at 3:00 PM, and the afternoon concludes by 5:30 PM. Tickets are available at SlowMotionMagic.org.
Every autumn, a group of Southern California magicians gives one Sunday afternoon to a cause that reaches well beyond the stage. This year, Christopher Moro joins them. Conjuring for a Cure is a Michael J. Fox Foundation magic fundraiser created by a performer who knows the stakes personally, and its seventh edition moves to a new home in Santa Clarita with a lineup drawn largely from the Magic Castle community.
The Story Behind Conjuring for a Cure
In December 2013, David Rabotnick was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson's disease. His doctors gave him advice that would shape the next decade of his life: use your dexterity or lose it. A lifelong magic fan, David took that advice to heart. He began studying sleight of hand in 2014, turning physical therapy into a craft that asks for precision from every finger.
In 2019, he founded Slow-Motion Magic, a nonprofit that uses live performance to raise awareness of Parkinson's disease and inspire hope for the people living with it. The organization's guiding conviction is direct: awareness fuels the research that will ultimately find a cure. Every Conjuring for a Cure benefits the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which David chose because it stands at the forefront of Parkinson's research.
His own path has included hard chapters. As his symptoms progressed, David underwent a surgical procedure with the hope of returning to performance, and he did. This year, he and his wife, Robyn, take the stage together again, hosting an afternoon that has become an annual tradition in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Magic Castle Magicians in Santa Clarita, United by One Cause
Much of a magician's work happens in private, refined over years before it is ever shared. Conjuring for a Cure brings that work into one room. For a single afternoon, performers who usually work independently share a bill, a backstage, and a purpose. Several are members of the Academy of Magical Arts, the private club headquartered at the Magic Castle in Hollywood, including the Academy's current president. The Magic Castle is also among this year's raffle donors.
Main Stage Performers
Ernie Stone, Emcee. A stand-up comedian who has performed at The Comedy Store and other Los Angeles venues, returning by popular demand to host the afternoon.
Markus Kublin. An award-winning entertainer who blends comedy, magic, and mentalism, a comedy writer whose credits include The Tonight Show, and vice president of Slow-Motion Magic.
Dave Norman. A longtime Southern California magician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.
David and Robyn Rabotnick. Founders of Slow-Motion Magic and the hosts behind Conjuring for a Cure.
Jonathan Molo. A Magic Castle performer with more than three decades in magic, recognized with the iCHange Nations Champion Leadership Award for his work in the special needs community.
Simone Turkington. President of the Academy of Magical Arts and a regular performer at the Magic Castle, with appearances across the United States and internationally.
Christopher Moro. A Burbank-based magician, USC film graduate, and founder of Christopher Moro Entertainment, which serves corporate and private events across Southern California.
Pre-Show Expo and Strolling Magic
Doors open at 2:00 PM for a pre-show expo featuring two strolling magicians, including Kirk Grodske, who perform close-up magic among guests as they arrive. The expo also includes raffles, games, and signature drinks for guests 21 and over.
Christopher Moro Takes the Conjuring for a Cure Stage
Christopher Moro earned Magician Member status at the Academy of Magical Arts through formal audition and peer review. He is also an award-winning stage magician, and his portfolio spans strolling magic, Formal Close-Up, parlor, stand-up, and stage magic, along with mentalism.
Christopher is a graduate of the USC School of Cinema-Television who went on to write, direct, and produce independent films. That background shows in the details audiences feel more than notice: the pacing of a performance, the timing of each reveal, and the care taken to make every moment land clearly for everyone in the room, from the front row to the back wall.
His performances are built around the guests themselves. Audience members are invited into the experience, and the most memorable reactions belong to the people living them. For an afternoon devoted to community and hope, that guest-first philosophy feels especially at home, and it is the same approach he brings to corporate events throughout Southern California.

A note from Christopher:
“Some of the most meaningful performances happen in rooms where everyone has come for the same reason. Conjuring for a Cure is one of those rooms. David turned a diagnosis into a craft, and then into a community, and I'm grateful to share his stage. If you're in the Santa Clarita Valley on October 11, I hope you'll join us.
And if you're planning a charity gala or corporate fundraiser of your own and want to explore entertainment that brings guests together around a shared purpose, I'd welcome a Discovery Conversation.”
